Insurance and medical shit…

21 Aug

I need to vent.  I need to scream.  I also need to cry.  To be honest, I've already done those three today, but it's not all out, so you poor Vox'ers have to listen now!

My ongoing shit with my ankle…is just that; SHIT!  No insurance, got insurance and won't cover it…is the jist, now I have to pay for a surgery out of pocket.  Now, luckily this is outpatient so I won't have hospital bills and all that crap, but still.  I need to come up with 50% before the surgery and the rest within 30 to 90 days (depending on which bill).  So, yeah, I've got to pay $2000 before next week!

This is what sucks ass, we're too "rich" for help but too "poor" to acutally be able to have a few grand laying around.  Gotta love the US medical and insurance system!

Getting sick or hurt just isn't allowed. The hole gets deep fast. (((Hugs)))

That sux. I am in the same boat…too rich for help, but too poor to have money for things that happen. I'm glad I got state help when I got preggie. My son was 6 weeks early and the hospital bill was over $30,000! I would be paying that for the rest of my life probably. I hope everything works out for you.

Oh I hear ya there Jenna! We will always have my hospital bill when we had our son…over $60K!
    Thanks for y'all support!

I feel ya. We're in the same boat, not poor enough for the government to give us everything for free, but we sure don't have a spare couple of grand laying around. I sure hope you get that surgery done fast, though, ankle trouble sucks!

    Thanks sweetie! Smooches!

Oof! That smarts, but hopefully less than your ankle.Man, I want to go off on some left-wing, blue state rant here about the state of healthcare in the US… but I'll quietly seethe behind my monitor instead. ~Twinge, a fan of those silly socialist Scandinavians with their good health-, child-, and retirement care.

Yeah, I see problems with socialist societies, but what we've got isn't working either. I have SEVERAL rants about insurance over on my diaryland blog. I need to move some of that stuff over here…

Why won't insurance cover the surgery? Can you get your primary care doctor or orthopedist to advocate for you with the insurance company? I had to do that often for my patients.
